Day 26,661 - Images from the I Ching: Wind [The Gentle] over Mountain [The Unmoving] (Hexagram 53 - Development) --> changing towards [lines 1,5] --> Mountain [The Unmoving] over Fire [The Clinging] (Hexagram 23 - Elegance) ... The initial image of Wind (or Wood) over(on) the Mountain is one of growth, like a tree that has sprouted on the side of a Mountain, seeking the sun and dancing in the Wind ... It is a beautiful scene and one that anyone beholding it will cherish, and declare it beautiful ... But this is not a lush, green, warm context ... The tree is growing ... It is establishing itself by spreading roots wide and deep ... But this is a place of adversity for a tree as it stands exposed to some of the most harsh elements that the Universe can throw at it ... It _needs_ those roots to grab ahold of the Earth itself and cling to its very existence ... Here, the growth is slow and the Tree must be tenacious and determined to hold its place and substance ... From this place of difficulty we are reminded that the Universe can bestow beauty from even the most challenging of circumstances ... The Trees on the Mountainside have shown us an example of this ...

From the two changing(dying) lines in the the first and fifth positions we find our inner selves and the world around us shifting ... This time the Mountain has shifted to Fire and the Wind as morphed into the Mountain and we see that the perspicacity of the outer Tree upon our inner, stubborn, steadfast Mountain has garnered the beauty of a Mountain glowing within the light of our inner Fire ... It is a beautiful image of grandeur and warmth. It is available to each of us, but only if we let that Fire establish itself and express the warmth and flare that we embody ... Il Matto ...
