With the presence of Mountain comes a strong sense of self that can resist the pressure of others, society at large and even history, for it contains a large measure of the history it has witnessed ... The substance and persistence of Mountain can be either solid, ancoring force that helps us proceed in spite of adversity, or it can be an obstacle that limits our progress, our capacity or our mobility ... We need to first understand what Mountain means to us right now ... Perhaps we need to find a safe, isolated ledge for meditation, or a passageway around, through or over the Moutain ... It may be protecting us from forces that are dangerous for us ... Whatever the case, we can learn from this companion of the ages, for it has seen it all ... We need to listen ...

This is the end of the Heaxagram Sequence, potentially the culmination of a journey or life experience that has carried us through potentially harrowing passages of the inner and outer ranges of Mountains in which we find ourselves ... Although the earth can be a centering force, and is the substance of creation, it has many forms: deserts, valleys, caverns, plains, hills. None of us are the same and we are all centered, comforted and sustained by different terrains ... The Earth can provide any places that can present a path for us, even if it is unfamiliar, perhaps even harsh and perilous, but the paths we need can be awaiting us in the next valley, nestled within a complex cavern or winding its way through green fields ...
