Day 26,647 - Images from the I Ching: Fire [The Clingin] over Fire [The Clinging] (Hexagram 19 - Brilliance) --> changing towards [lines 2,3,5] --> Sky [The Seeking] over Lake [The Joyous] (Hexagram 09 - Caution) ... Fire inside ... Surrounded by Fire ... How can one think of anything but Brilliance ... With this image, the double flames are almost blinding in their persistence ... It is hard to to avoid ... With an image such as this one needs to appreciate the glorious and exhuberant intensity, the euphoric confidence and the sensation that nothing is impossible ... but, like Icarius flying too close to the sun, or an amorous moth that flies too close to a campfire, the mesmerizing tongues of flame can exact their own steep price ... Like all things in the Universe there are tradeoffs, dangers and obstacles that mingle intimately with the most compelling and fertile lands ...

With three young, dying lines within this Hexagram, there is much shifting and evolving within this image ... The inner Fire becomes the Joyous, expressive Lake and the outer fire becomes the Seeking, Creative Sky ... Both aspects of this image are powerful and welcome companions, but together, with the Sky extending over the Lake and it's swirling, chilled depths, the Sky is held back, at times even threathed by the tempestuous unease of the the stormy sea with its monsoons, hurricanes and gyrating water spouts ... Even the Joyous Lake has its jagged edge ... So caution is to be emphased in the wake of the astouding beauty and intelligence of the dual flames of Fire over Fire ...
