Day 26,670 - Images from the I Ching: Sky [The Seeking] over Lake [The Joyful] (Hexagram 09 - Conduct) --> changing towards [line 1,2,4,5,6] --> Earth [The Embracing] over Earth [The Embracing] (Hexagram 64 - Nature) ... This is a very interesting sequence of images ... The aspect that cannot be ignored is the fact that all five of the Yang(Seeking) lines in the hexagram are aging, dying and changing towards Yin(Embracing) lines ... The amount of change in this sequence is quite simply stunning, and rare ... This could be a moment of great significance (constructive or destructive) ... The outer reality (Sky) is all logic, thinking, plans and agressive seeking for accomplishments, solutions or resolutions ... On the one hand, Sky, seems to be quite a constructive image ... After all, this is the source of our plans for the future, the construction of cities and the design of our systems of commerce, industry and communication ... but ... Sky is literally and figuratively not grounded ...

The Yang(Seeking) Sky needs the Yin(Embracing) Earth or it will simply go wild with its plans with no realistic sense of where the resources are going to come from to support the effort (time, money, energy, etc) ... In the initial image there is no Earth to play this role, only our inner Lake, which is great at expressing how we feel, but not at anchoring, grounding and centering ... Lake, as the seas, oceans and other bodies of water covers seventy percent of the earth, so the Sky must come down at some point and that would be the horizon, but if the Sky descends upon Lake it is simply consumed into the depts of Lake's waters, so Sky must control itself, discipline itself and reserve its unlimited desire to plan things, or it will collapse into the sea, just like Icarus, who thought that he could fly in the face of danger: the sun, the depths of Lake, the physics of the Universe, as the wax melted and left him helpless ... So, in the lead up to this massive change of five lines, there is a cautionary note in the face of Sky ... When we have big plans, we have to think of Murphy's Laws every bit as much as the laws of physics, the most important of which is: If it _can_ happen it _will_ happen ...

Then the five Yang(Seeking) lines die and a wave of Embracing Yin arrives to port both the outer and inner realities to the grounding, centering, nurturing Earth ... For it is here that we will land when everything falls apart and we need to be prepared for all of the terrains that Earth offers: desert, caverns, valleys, plains, forests, etc ... We need logic (Sky) and we need expressive art (Lake), but ultimately, we need the earth ... It is Earth from which we came and Earth to which we will return ... Embrace the Earth as it embraces you and implement the grand plans within the context the Earth provides ... Il Matto ...
