Day 26,670 - Images from the I Ching: Wind [The Gentle] over Earth [The Embracing] (Hexagram 61 - Contemplation) --> changing towards [line 6] --> Water [The Abyss] over Earth [The Embracing] (Hexagram 62 - Unity) ... The wind, if one thinks about it, can see everything in the world ... It can go anywhere it wants to ... And it can inspire any emotion, for it is (after all) the spirit, the oxygen, the very life that fills our lungs ... Our Inner Earth is centered and serves as the foundation all that we are, but it is the outer Wind that carries our words, our thoughts and spirits throughout the earth ... it is through the wind that our voices are transmitted to others ... It is the wind that fueled ships through the ages and generates electricity today, that (in turn) carries our voices, thoughts and accomplishments around the world ... A sage breathes in the spirit on a high ledge ... A poet responds to that haunting breeze that slips onto the shore from the salty sea ... We can't help but contemplate the ages, the infinite night-time skies or the depths of seas when we stand on the shore and absorb the wind ... It calls to something profoundly deep within us ... From this awareness we begin to sense all that is around us and within us ...

There is one old and dying line in this heaxagram within the outer Wind, that takes the outer reality into the realm of water ... When the outer Water flows upon the Inner Earth there is the potential for a network of connections creating community, unity and perhaps even harmony ... The system of lakes, streams, rivers and seas makes an interesting natural analog to computer networks where we see server pools, data flow and downstream databases ... From Wind blowing over the Earth to Floods covering the Earth we have the element of contemplation, reflexion and powerful intellectual problem solving leading to the result of much planning, creative ideas and the collective strategies to spread communication, technology and strategic coordination that has resulted in the formation cities, nations and extensive systems for agrigulture, industry and the arts ... Hopefully we will maintain the connection to the spiritual dimensions of the Universe while drinking from the cup of Logic ... The Head (Sky) needs the Belly (Earth) for centering ... The Head and Belly need the Wind and Water to make everthing in between function properly ... Il Matto ...
